ArtSwirl 2009 wraps up today with four more events. Thanks for making Northfield's 6th annual festival of the Arts the best one yet!

• 2:30 pm: Storytelling: Real Lives Aloud, Northfield Arts Guild Theater, 411 W Third St. (Content not suitable for children.)
• 4 pm: Carleton College Japanese Garden Tour, behind Watson Hall (E. First and Maple Streets)
  
• 6 pm: Politics & A Pint, a lively discussion about the arts in Northfield, at the Contented Cow Pub
• 7 pm: Northern Roots Session, informal music for listening and participating at the Contented Cow

• 10 am-6 pm: Shop 4-Art, downtown Northfield
• 11 am-5 pm: Art in the Park, Central Park
• 12:00-5:00 pm: Jazz Festival in Central Park
• 12:15-12:45 pm: Noontime Organ Recital at Trinity Lutheran Church
• 5:30-10:30 pm: Summer Soiree in Central Park.
• 6 pm-midnight: Lowbrow-High Octane at The Garage.
  
• 9 pm: Local music live in the downtown pubs

Shop 4-Art: Saturday, Aug. 15

Northfield is fortunate to have so many unique retail shops. In fact, there are a number of stores in our community where you can find locally-designed and hand-crafted goods 52 weeks a year.

The NDDC’s Sixth Annual ArtSwirl seeks to recognize and celebrate these special shops. On Saturday, August 15th, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., we’re encouraging people to Shop 4 Art in Downtown Northfield.

The locations highlighted in this event include: ArtOnWater, The Sketchy Artist, Northfield Arts Guild, digs, Fashion Fair, Eclectic Goat, Right Brain Ventures, swag, and Monkey See Monkey Read. And while you’re downtown, be sure to check out one of our over two dozen dining options.

Shopping, dining, arts and crafts, food and beverages…sounds like a good afternoon to me. All in Historic, Scenic, Authentic Downtown Northfield.

Butch Thompson kicks off the first annual Northfield Jazz Fest at the Grand Event Center tonight, but there's a whole lotta' ArtSwirlin' goin' on in the meantime. Check out the full schedule of events for complete descriptions and details.

• 1-2:30 pm: "Animation Exploration at the Northfield Public Library

• 4-8 pm: Downtown Gallery Crawl & Studio Tour
• 6 pm: Northfield Arts Guild Ballet Dance Performance, overlooking the pedestrian bridge on the Cannon River.

• 7 pm: A Midsummer’s Night Dream in Central Park
